Iceland take the lead
Iceland took the lead in the 20th minute when Birkir Bjarnason's cross found Kolbeinn Sigthorsson, who headed home from close range.
England struggled to create any chances in response and went into the break a goal down.
England fail to find an equalizer
Southgate made a number of changes at half-time, but England failed to improve in the second half.
Harry Kane had a good chance to equalize in the 65th minute, but he headed wide from a corner.
England continued to push for a goal in the closing stages, but Iceland held on to secure a famous victory.
